Northumbria’s iconic Law School building judged among world’s best

5th September 2014

Northumbria University’s School of Law building has been voted one of the most aesthetically pleasing in the world.

It outranked 48 other leading law schools across the globe to take second place on The Best Choice Schools website’s list of ‘50 Most Impressive Law School Buildings’.

The website, which ranks higher education institutes across a range of factors, compared law school buildings across the UK, US, Germany, Singapore, Canada and Australia. Buildings were chosen for their ‘ingenuity, aesthetic beauty and commitment to creating an environment that honors the history and study of law’.

Northumbria is one a total of just six UK law schools to make the Top 50 list.

Described as “futuristic and splendid”, the building was applauded for its courtroom, award-winning Student Law Office, and the focus on energy-saving and eco-friendly features.

Kevin Kerrigan, Executive Dean, Northumbria Law School, said: “To rank so highly in this list is a great honour and reaffirms our ability to stand out on the global stage – above Yale and Harvard Law Schools’ in the US and the Faculty of Law in Oxford, here in the UK.

“Being recognised for our originality and inventiveness, the quality and appearance of our buildings, and the overall ethos of the faculty, shows our commitment to offering a world-class facility and experience for our students.
