The Institute of Leadership and Management Postgraduate Scholarships

Northumbria University is pleased to partner with and introduce The Institute of Leadership and Management Postgraduate Scholarships to commence September 2023.  The scheme will support four Postgraduate students who choose to study on either the one year Full-Time Business and Management MSc or the one year Full-Time Fashion Design (Sustainable and Ethical) MA with £2,000 cash during their degree.  The money can be used to enhance the overall University experience.

To be eligible for The Institute of Leadership and Management Scholarships you must:

  • Be a UK/Home applicant with 'Home' fee status
  • Apply to study on one of the below eligible courses commencing September 2023 at the Newcastle Upon Tyne campus
  • Meet the terms and conditions and accept your offer
  • Be a self-funded student - ie; not have fees which are paid in full or in part through a sponsorship arrangement (employer funded)

Eligible Courses*

  • The students selected for The Institute of Leadership and Management Scholarship will not be eligible for other Northumbria Scholarships which includes The Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship
  • The successful students will be eligible for the Alumni Discount
  • The scholarship is awarded as a £2,000 cash sum on one of the above eligible courses studied at the Newcastle Upon Tyne campus
  • The cash award will be paid as: 25% in November 2023, 25% in February 2024, and 50% in May 2024
  • The successful student will be required to send a thank you letter and progress updates to the donor
  • If you do not provide a thank you letter and progress updates to the donor, the scholarship will be withdrawn
  • If you defer your place, the scholarship offer will be withdrawn
  • If you decide to leave your course after a scholarship payment has been made, the University will not make efforts to reclaim the amount
  • Northumbria reserves the right to withdraw this scheme at any point
  • The University's decision is final and cannot be challenged; there is no right of appeal


  • There is a competitive selection process for this scholarship scheme.  Applicants need to apply via online written application; a selection panel will consider all eligible applications.  In no more than 1000 characters; What are your career aspirations in your chosen Masters degree and how would an Institute scholarship help you achieve these? - Applications will be considered on the strength of response and will be assessed by the relevant course academic.
  • The successful applicants will be notified once the evaluation panel has met, by no later than Friday 08 September 2023
