International Short Programme
Northumbria University are giving you the opportunity to spend 2-8 weeks living abroad on a partially funded programme! Students who have completed a course within the last 12 months are invited to participate in an International Short Programme, where you can have a rewarding experience working or volunteering in an exciting new country. We have over 15 short programmes available to you across a range of different countries, so there’s plenty of choice for you to expand your skills and embrace a new culture.
These programmes are a fantastic way to improve your employability by gaining new skills and demonstrating to employers your willingness to go outside your comfort zone.
The International Mobility Team are able to support graduates with generous funding through the Turing scheme, which can make a significant contribution towards financing your experience abroad. Funding is available to all students who are within 12 months of completing a course, however the amount of funding depends on your chosen programme and varies depending on whether you meet widening participation criteria. Full information on funding can be found on the webpage for each opportunity.
As of March 31st 2026 we now only have spaces remaining for 2 week Travelteer programmes in Sri Lanka or Morocco. Students must apply a minimum of 5-weeks before they travel, please check each opportunity page for more information. Applications will still be reviewed on a competitive basis.
Please note that your ISP must be fully completed within 12 months of your course end date. This is the official end date of your course, which is earlier than your graduation ceremony date. If would like us to check the course end date for you, please email us.
For full funding information and FAQs, please read our guide here.
Before applying, please email er.study-abroad@northumbria.ac.uk to let us know to expect your application. Our system on MoveOn is set up to delete applications from non-Northumbria email addresses, so by letting us know in advance we can prevent your application from being deleted from our system.
Update 20/02/26: Please note that due to having limited funded spaces remaining we are now only able to offer a maximum duration of 2 week programmes.
