Assessing, benchmarking & improving BIM Competency of Qatar’s construction industry practitioners

This project aims to improve the BIM competency of current and future construction practitioners.

It will establish a BIM competency inventory and ‘target BIM competency profiles’ describing both emergent roles (e.g. model manager, BIM project facilitator, and information manager) and established functions (e.g. project architect, design engineer and site manager).

Competency benchmarking campaigns will be conducted across Qatar’s construction industry and the data collected compared against established target profiles to identify the competency gaps of industry practitioners.

These will form the foundation for developing and delivering a host of Qatar-specific, BIMfocused training, professional development and e-learning modules.

This project will provide clients and employers with an operational tool for assessing and prequalifying practitioners working on their projects; and enable learning providers to adapt their offerings to match these competencies.

Funded by Qatar Foundation’s flagship NPRP stream. Project partners: Northumbria University, Qatar University and Teesside University.
