Rider Levitt Bucknall Scholarship for Black and Minority Ethnic (BAME) Women
Northumbria University is delighted to announce the Rider Levitt Bucknall Undergraduate Scholarship for September 2023. Rider Levitt Bucknall are an independent global property and constructions consultancy providing management and advice throughout the built environment. This gift aims to inspire talented women from a BAME background and supports the ambition to increase diversity in the built environment sector and clearly aligns with the values of Rider Levitt Bucknall.
The £2,000 scholarship will be awarded to one highly gifted student who chooses to study on one of the below courses*. The scholarship will be paid throughout years one, two and three** (to a total of £6,000) and the money can be used to enhanced the overall university experience.

Terms and Conditions
The Rider Levitt Bucknall scholarship is open to highly gifted women and you must:
- Have one of the following categories of ethnicity:
- Black African
- Black Caribbean
- Black Other
- Mixed – White and Black Caribbean
- Mixed – White and Black African
- Other mixed background (to include Black African, Black Caribbean or Black Other)
- Be a UK/Home applicant
- Achieve at least 144 points (or equivalent) from your best three qualifications, for example AAA at A Level or DDD at BTEC
- Apply and enrol to study on one of the Full-Time courses* listed below at the Newcastle Upon Tyne campus, starting in September 2023
- Choose Northumbria as your firm choice by 08 June

- Meet all individual entry requirements
- Be a self-funded student (ie, not in receipt of sponsorship or other funding for the payment of fees, such as employer funding)
- Register with Student Finance England (SFE), Student Finance Wales
(SFW) or Student Finance Northern Ireland (SFNI)
- As a Scottish student, register with Student Award Agency for
Scotland (SAAS) and apply to be means-tested for maintenance funding, in
order that SASS can send your data to Student Finance England
- Agree to share consent via your Government Finance Provider with
Northumbria University
Eligible Courses
Important Information
- The student selected for a Rider Levitt Bucknall scholarship will not be
eligible for any other Undergraduate scholarship schemes
- The scholarship is awarded as cash
- Payments will be made as 25% of total in November 2023, 25% of
total in February 2024 and 50% of total in May 2024
- Funding is provided on an annual basis, on the condition the successful
students progress to the next year of study
- **If you choose to undertake a placement year, the scholarship will not be paid in this year
- The successful student will be required to send a thank you letter
to the donor
- Progress updates for the donor will be requested at the end of each
academic year. Subsequent payments
will not be made until these updates are received
- If you do not provide a thank you letter and progress updates to
the donor, the scholarship will be withdrawn
- If you defer your place at Northumbria University before the
scholarship has been paid, the scholarship offer will be withdrawn
- If you decide to leave your course after the scholarship payment
has been made, the University will not make efforts to reclaim the amount
- The University's decision is final and cannot be challenged; there
is no right of appeal
Selection
Process:
- Students who are eligible for a Rider Levitt Bucknall scholarship will
be identified by Northumbria University post-enrolment, there is no
separate application form
- If more than one student is eligible based on their point score, we will look at the 10 best overall UCAS point scores from best three and the successful student will be selected on the strength of their personal statement
- The successful student will be notified by the end of October 2023
