2021/22 Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship

£2,750 Fee Discount Scholarship for 50 Masters Students.

That’s why we’re thrilled to announce our Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship.  A unique opportunity for you to join us for a Full-Time Masters in September 2021, with a £2,750 fee discount.

Apply for a Masters now. The Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship closes at 16:00 on 14 July 2021.

A step-by-step guide to applying:

  1. Check the eligibility criteria below to ensure you are eligible to apply for the Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship.
  2. Apply for an eligible Masters course. You can submit your application by clicking the ‘APPLY NOW’ button at the top of the course webpage and completing the application form. Current student? Head to your Student Portal and use our short application form to apply in less than 5 minutes.
  3. Once your course application has been processed, our Applicant Services team will update your Applicant Portal. This usually takes around two weeks. When you are in receipt of an offer for an eligible Masters course, you will be able to apply for the Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship.
  4. Check your inbox! Once you have been made an offer for an eligible Masters course, we will email you with an invitation to apply for the scholarship.
  5. Using the link in your email, submit your application for the Vice-Chancellor’s scholarship by answering the question, “How will being awarded the Vice-Chancellor’s scholarship prepare you for the challenges of a constantly changing world?” Your answer must be less than 1,000 characters, and you must submit it by the deadline – 16:00 on 14 July 2021.

Selection Process

  • There is a competitive selection process for this scholarship scheme. Applicants need to apply via online written application; a selection panel will consider all eligible applications.
  • Applications will be considered on the strength of response to, in no more than 1000 characters: How will being awarded a Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship prepare you for the challenges of a constantly changing world?
  • If you are currently studying for your degree, you do not need to wait for your final classification before applying.
  • If successful, the award of the scholarship will be made conditional upon you achieving the required degree classification before commencement of the course.
  • Successful applicants will be notified once the evaluation panel has met, no later than Friday 06 August 2021.

Important Information 

  • Students selected for the Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship for September 2021 will no longer be eligible for any other Postgraduate discounts.  This includes, Alumni Discount and the Santander Scholarship
  • Students selected for the Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship will also be eligible for the Early Bird Discount
  • Sponsored students are not eligible for the Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship
  • Students are still able to apply, and may be eligible for the Government Loan and other sources of finance to support PGT study. For more detail visit www.northumbria.ac.uk/pgfinance
  • The Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship for September 2021 is awarded as a £2,750 fee discount and is not a cash sum
  • Successful students will receive a £2,750 tuition fee discount on Full-Time eligible courses studied at Newcastle City and Coach Lane Campus only
  • The reduction to fees will be made following enrolment
  • For students who are studying on a two year or Advanced Practice Masters course, the discount will be applied pro-rata if you choose to pay your fees across two years
  • If you defer your place, the scholarship offer will be withdrawn
  • Northumbria University reserves the right to withdraw this scheme at any point
  • The University’s decision is final and cannot be challenged; there is no right of appeal

Terms and conditions

To be eligible for the Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship, you must:

  • Be a UK/Home student with 'Home' fee status
  • Apply for an eligible Masters course
  • Meet the conditions of your offer, and accept an offer to study on a Full-Time taught Masters course at Newcastle City Campus or Coach Lane in September 2021
  • Be a self-funded student
  • Not have fees which are paid in full or in part through a sponsorship arrangement, i.e. employer funded
  • Have applied for an eligible Masters course (courses listed above).
