Academic credit

If you wish to receive credit for your studies on the NISS we recommend that you contact your Study Abroad Office. All students are advised to do this prior to application.

It is up to your home institution to decide how much credit is awarded for NISS courses as credits are not listed on NISS Summer School transcripts. The NISS courses are equivalent to one semester-long course from an undergraduate degree at Northumbria and each include 45 hours of contact time.

Generally we recommend that our courses receive 3 or 4 credits in the US system and 7.5 ECTS in the European system.

Certification & Transcripts

All students will be provided with a certificate and Northumbria University transcript that will include their name, course and grade*, upon completion of the programme.

This discount applies to full-time and **part-time taught postgraduate, and postgraduate research programmes and is available to students studying at any of our UK campuses or via distance learning.

The discount is paid pro-rata for each year of study; it should be deducted from the course fee and applied before any other discounts, such as early payment discounts. The discount applies to the tuition fee only, and not to exam, writing-up, or professional registration fees.
